Holidays and cooking with Kids
This holiday season include you little ones in the process of cooking and preparing the holidays! ''Noël à la française''!
Sharing these moments with your kids will make them responsible and thankful for their food, family and presents but also the importance of giving 😊
An easy activity to do even on no school days.
1) A french Classic: ''La pâte a sel''
-1 cup of salt
-1 cup of water
-1 cup of flour
Mix everything, this will create a sort of play doh. Kids can make Chirstmas ornaments, teacher presents etc... Bake their creations for about 20 minutes. Once dry they can paint them. 100% success, no chemicals and little mess!
2) Baking of any kind:
When it comes to baking with kids I would suggest to keep it simple in order to avoid too much mess and/or a disaster result..! Should you not be in the mood of baking or cooking have them involved in meal prep, for example peel oranges and put them in a container, cut apples etc... A great activity.
-Tip n'1: get some fun cookie cutters, molds, pans etc... This guarantees a quick presentation!
-Tip n'2: An easy recipe, share the tasks. For example get the kids to cut butter while you do the ''messier'' part.
-Tip n'3: It does not need to be perfect, cooking with kids requires patience. Granola bars or protein ball is another quick/easy idea.
-Tip n'4: My go to ''Biscuits de Noël'' (holiday cookies)
-1 Egg, 250g of flour, 100g butter, 50g almond powder, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 125g of sugar, mix everything. The mixture will be perfect for kids to make star cookies or any other shape they like!
3) Get them involved in decorating:
When it comes to house organization, decoration I get my kids involved that way they understand the importance of respecting a clean and pretty environment.
Decorate your house with them, shop those decorations and validate their ideas while explaining the importance of color match etc... Also let them select their own decoration for their room.
Finally, remember that no matter where you are or what you do you are a good mom/parent. Your kids appreciate everything you do and often it only take 10 to 15 minutes for them to fell happy and satisfied with these activites, no need to complicate or drive yourself crazy! 😃
The buzz of happiness, joy of helping, family moments are the ones they will remember.
Happy holiday season ♥️
